The New York Times bestselling author of The Valentine’s Arrangement continues her sizzling series with a new novel of a plan that goes awry—in the arms of a soldier…

Picking the wrong men is a talent Meagan Mitchell has perfected. She’s sweet, confident, beautiful—and single. With her thirtieth birthday sneaking up on her, she needs a new plan. No more Mr. Wrongs or Mr. Bads, it’s time to find Mr. Safe…

Army Captain, Reed Porter, lives for the thrill—he’s an Airborne Jumpmaster with a rush addiction. He’s sexy and playful, and he quickly tempts Meagan with his rich Southern drawl and sinful looks. But slowing down and settling down are not in his agenda, making him exactly the type of man Meagan wants to avoid…

As their undeniable attraction heats up, Meagan has to decide if she’s willing to risk everything on a chance at love with a reckless charmer. Is she brave enough to bet her future—and her heart—on Mr. Thrill? Or will Reed finally learn that the feeling of a safe landing is just as addicting as the rush of the fall?

"Sometimes, the things we're afraid of...the things that scare us the most, are the things that give us the biggest rush."

In The Valentine's Arrangement, Megan Mitchell lost the guy. The guy she didn't even realize she wanted to be hers until he was gone. Now she's facing down the fact she's turning thirty soon, and her life isn't where she thought it would be at this point. She wants a family, the husband and kids and a happy, safe life. When the opportunity comes for her to make a big change, Megan takes the risk, bringing her front-and-center with a face from the past, Reed Porter.

Reed is a daredevil. He's an Army Jumpmaster, a thrill seeker who lives for the moments on the edge. While it may seem that he's in it for the fun, a tragedy has pushed Reed to seek all those moments, whether it's white water rafting, paragliding, or even wing walking (excuse me...NO.) So while Megan is looking for the fairy tale happy ending, Reed is just looking for a happy ending. He'll give Megan right now, but won't promise forever.

Feel the Rush is a really good second chance romance. Though the premise isn't a new one, Leverich really made it work. Her characterizations of Megan and Reed were very in-depth, so I always knew exactly where they were coming from, and why. Megan's longing to have it all was palpable; her understanding for Reed's feelings was admirable. She never pushed him for what he wouldn't give, but she didn't settle for less than what she deserved. Reed's reluctance could've made him seem like an ass, but he was just so nice and so honest that even though he frustrating, I just got it. Throughout the story, especially on the back end, the two do begin to learn some lessons about life and love, particularly about expectations and letting go of what holds you back.

And the attraction between these two? Good lord, it was hot. Reed played Megan's body like a prized instrument.

He spoke in time with the pleasure he was giving her body, telling her word for word what he was doing, and it was the hottest thing a man had ever done to her. But when that lush, thick voice was combined with his mouth and his hands and his body--all on her, all at once--it made for a combination that not only created shivers that shook her to her core, but it made her not want to slip and fall, it made her want to jump. He was taking her someplace she couldn't reach, but when she got there, she would definitely jump.

I liked Feel the Rush so much, even more than book one. This one had a lot of heart, a lot of steam, and a couple of moments that had me tearing up. I love nothing more than a good romance that has me invested in the happy ever after. There's good set up for the next novella and novel in the series. I'm finding myself enjoying the Hard Feelings series so much, and am more than happy to recommend it.

Favorite Quotes:

"So what's the game plan? Revenge sex? Best friend revenge sex?"
Megan laughed. Leave it to Eva to start scheming. "No, I'm not plotting anything."
"You're no fun. Come on, let's at least torture him a little. You need to get him all hot and bothered again and then shut him down. You said he was checking you out Play with him a little Give me some fun."
  "You're cruel--you know that?"
"Guilty. But seriously, you need to tease him until his memory comes back in full swing."
"That's not really my style, Eva.
"I know, but it's my style and I need to love vicariously through you."

In the very next breath his mouth connected with hers, his teeth pulling her bottom lip into his mouth. She felt like she was strapped on a roller coaster, her feet dangling over the edge. It's that fear, that feeling as if you're click, click, clicking up to the top. It was that feeling that had you begging to get off, wondering why in the world you climbed on in the first place. Then when you reached the top, there was that split second of pause, that one flash of a moment where you could see the ground below and you'd think, "This is it."
  This was it.

SERIES REVIEW: BEAUTIFUL BASTARD SERIES, #1 - 2.5 by CHRISTINA LAUREN

Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard, #1)Series: Beautiful Bastard #1
Genre: Erotic Romance
Publisher: Gallery Books
Publication Date: 2/12/13
Format: Paperback
Pages: 305
Source: Purchase
Rating: 5 stars

An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He's exacting, blunt, inconsiderate--and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family's massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who'd been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative--completely infuriating--creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he's never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe's so tempting he's willing to bend the rules--or outright smash them--if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they're willing to lose in order to win each other.

My road with Beautiful Bastard is long and weird. I got the audiobook last summer, and spent the next five months struggling through the first fifty percent of the story. Seriously, I was hating this book. I hated Bennett and Chloe. I hated the narrator. Finally, I DNF'd it. A few days later, I received a copy of Beautiful Player in the mail. I was very hesitant to give it a try, and went into it prepared to read one hundred pages only then DNF it as well. To my surprise, I fell in love with Beautiful Player (Will Sumner!!). I thought it was hilarious, sweet, and sexy. An even bigger surprise? I actually liked Bennett and Chloe, a lot. The dynamic between them was aggressive and sexy and I love the way they kept each other on their toes. It's a dynamic not unlike that I share with my husband, and then I thought "Ohhhhhhh." But that's another story for a different day.

My point is, seeing Chloe and Bennett in the future, in Beautiful Player and Beautiful Beginning, helped me realize that maybe I was wrong, and that I should give Beautiful Bastard another chance. But this time, I decided to read the paperback instead of listen to the audiobook. Best choice, because that narrator was seriously not working for me. I did this series completely ass backward, but because I'm kind of random and weird, it totally worked for me.

I loved Beautiful Bastard. I loved the enemies-in-the-workplace-turned-combatant lovers-turned-true love story. I thought the writing was fun, sexy, and really clever. I liked that Chloe was incredibly strong and uncompromising in her professional life. I love that Bennett had to bend to meet her. I loved seeing that Bastard fall flat into love.

I am so, so, so glad I was wrong.

Favorite Quotes:

"Let's call a truce for one night," I said, pressing three small kisses on her lips, one on each side and a lingering one in the middle, in the heart of her mouth. "Give me all of you for one night, no holding back. Please, Chloe, I'll leave you alone after that but I haven't seen you in almost two weeks and...I just need tonight."

  "I need another night."
She sucked in a breath and stared, and only then did it occur to me that she could be feeling something very different than I was.
"Feel free to say no. I just...." I ran a hand through my hair and looked up at her. "I just would really like to be with you again tonight."

...I wanted to tell her, "This, what we have, is the most amazing thing I have felt. Do you feel it too?" But I had no words. I had only instinct and desire and the taste of her on my tongue and the memory of her laugh ringing in my ears. I wanted to keep that sound playing over and over. I wanted to be everything for her: her lover and sparring partner and friend. In this bed, I could be everything.

Beautiful Bitch (Beautiful Bastard, #1.5)Series: Beautiful Bastard #1.5
Genre: Erotic Romance
Publisher: Gallery Books
Publication Date: 7/9/13
Format: Paperback

Rating: 5 stars

Picking up where Beautiful Bastard left off, Chloe Mills and Bennett Ryan continue their steamy, combative relationship.

Just when Chloe’s career starts to take off, Bennett wishes it would all slow down long enough to spend a wild night alone with his girlfriend. But after he refuses to take no for an answer, Chloe and Bennett find themselves with two plane tickets, one French Villa, and a surprising conversation that, predictably, leaves them wrestling under the covers.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18061771-beautiful-bitch

I freaking loved Beautiful Bitch. I appreciated learning what happened after the end of Beautiful Bastard, how Bennett and Chloe manage to balance love and work. These two are scarily alike, and that makes for some serious head-butting, and angry, aggressive, balancing, make-up lovin'.

What's really cool about the relationship is that the authors kept it real. Just because Chloe and Bennett are in love and in it for the long road does not mean that their life is blissful and easy. They still bicker, still have battles of wills, still struggle to balance work life, and the fact that Bennett is technically Chloe's boss, in a way.

But what really won me over with Beautiful Bastard and Beautiful Bitch? THE LOVE STORY, seeing the powerful and hard-assed Bennett Ryan brought to his knees by love. That kind of devotion and unflinching admission of love is just absolutely gorgeous. It makes this romance lover's heart feel super happy.

Favorite Quotes:

"Tell me you love me," she whispered.
My heart was racing and my blood seemed to pound through my veins. "I love you. Wildly. I'm..." I'd imagined this a thousand different times, but this moment felt way too loaded and my words came out in a breathless rush. Taking a deep breath and closing my eyes, I murmured, "I'm wildly in love with you."

I smiled as I thought back to my mother's advice: "Find a woman who will be your equal in every way. Don't let yourself fall for someone who'll put your world before theirs. Fall for the powerhouse who lives as fearlessly as you do. Find the woman who makes you want to be a better man."
Well, I had found her. Now all I had to do was wait for her to get here, so I could make sure she knew.

A charming British Playboy. A girl determined to finally live. And a secret liaison revealed in all too vivid color. Book two in the NYT Bestselling series.

Escaping a cheating ex, finance whiz Sara Dillon's moved to New York City and is looking for excitement without a lot of strings attached. So meeting the irresistible, sexy Brit at a dance club should have meant nothing more than a night's fun. But the manner--and speed--with which he melts her inhibitions turns him from a one-time hookup and into her Beautiful Stranger.

The whole city knows Max Stella loves women, not that he's ever found one he particularly wants to keep around. Despite pulling in plenty with his Wall Street bad boy charm, it's not until Sara--and the wild photos she lets him take of her--that he starts wondering if there's someone for him outside of the bedroom.

Hooking up in places where anybody could catch them, the only thing scarier for Sara than getting caught in public is having Max get too close in private.

Goshdangit. (<---that's me, being eloquent) This series is making me eat my words and I freaking love it. First, I didn't like Bennett and Chloe. Then I loved them. Then, I didn't think I would love Beautiful Stranger as much as Beautiful Bastard. And then, I did. It's pretty great when you find a series that is fun and sexy and you completely enjoy each book more and more.

Max and Sara were a delight. He's a British playboy who's never ever been in love. She's been in love and burned badly. They come together in anonymity and hot sex in public places. She doesn't want to fall in love again so soon. He can't help but fall in love with the shy, beautiful woman who comes alive in his arms.

Beautiful Stranger was ridiculously sexy. I mean, WOW. Max and Sara are pretty much my new heroes. It was also fun and charming, because it appears Christina Lauren can't write anything that doesn't amuse me immensely. And best of all, I adored the characters. Max and Sara were totally likable and from the get-go, you just can't help but root for their happy ever after.

Beautiful Stranger was brilliant.

Favorite Quotes:

I was really more like an old star, out of fuel, my own gravity pulling me inward, crushing me. I ran out of energy for my too-perfect life, my too-predictable job, my loveless relationship--exhausted at only twenty-seven. Like a star, my life in Chicago collapsed under the force of its own weight, so I was leaving. Massive stars leave behind black holes. Small stars leave behind white dwarfs. I was barely leaving behind a shadow. All of my light was coming with me. I was ready to start over as a comet: refuel, reignite, and burn across the sky.

Her laughter vibrated along my neck and beneath my skin. I'd never heard her make such a goofy, indelicate sound. Another one of her walls I'd penetrated. Victory surged warm and sharp in my chest, and for a brief pulse I wanted to yell out the window that she was letting me in.

I heard the click of a shutter followed by Max's deep voice. "The way you seem nervous makes me think you don't know that I'm in love with you."

A beautiful bastard of a groom-to-be. A bachelor-party-crashing bride. And one unforgettable night on the Vegas strip.

When Bennett's friends steal him away from Chloe for a weekend of shenanigans and strippers in Vegas, their first stop doesn't exactly go as planned. Their scheme for a guys' weekend completely derailed, Bennett and Max take every chance they get to rendezvous secretly with the women they love. But when the persistently single Will Sumner catches on, the pair realizes they need to team up with him instead of butting heads if they're to escape for more sexy Vegas hookups.

Beautiful Bastard's Chloe Mills and Bennett Ryan are back for one last blazing prewedding hurrah- but if what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, they might not ever want to leave.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17831614-beautiful-player?from_search=true

Okay, Beautiful Bombshell was so much fun! Bennett/Chloe and Max/Sara getting it on all over Las Vegas? Seriously, what's not to love. It was hot. It was hilarious. And at the heart of it, the Beautiful Bastard and his Beautiful Bitch are so completely in love.

As a bonus, this story, with Max and Bennett warning Will- that when he falls in love, it will be just as ridiculously overwhelming- really leads up well to Beautiful Player. I've already read and loved that book, but it made me want to pick up Beautiful Player and Beautiful Beginning all over again.

I'm so happy I gave this series another chance. It's been a blast.

Favorite Quote:

I felt the cool press of her engagement ring, thinking holy shit, this woman is going to be my wife, have my children, share my home and life. She'll see me grow old and most likely insane. She'll promise to love me through all of it.
I lifted myself above her, arms straight so I could watch what I was feeling, moving inside her. But her hands cupped my face, brought my attention back to her eyes.
  "Hey."
I tried to catch my breath, felt sweat drop from my forehead onto her chest. "Yeah?"
She licked her lips, swallowed. "I am so in love with you."

REVIEW and GIVEAWAY: SOME LIKE IT WILD by M. LEIGHTON

Some Like It Wild (The Wild Ones, #2)Series: The Wild Ones #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Berkley
Publication Date: 3/4/14

Format: eARC
Pages: 384
Source: Publisher
Rating: 4 stars

First was The Wild Ones. Now, the next book in M. Leighton's Wild Ones series...

How far will a good girl go for the bad boy she loves?

Laney Holt is a preacher’s daughter. A good girl. Her only goal was to get married, have babies, and live happily ever after, just like her parents. Only that didn’t happen. The two people closest to her betrayed her, and Laney’s dreams came crashing down. Now she’s left with an empty space she doesn’t know how to fill. Until she meets Jake Theopolis, a daredevil with a death wish who has heartbreaker written all over him.

Jake has no interest in thinking beyond the here and now. All he wants out of life is the next rush, the next “feel-good” thing to keep his mind off the pain of his past. His latest rush? Showing Laney there’s more to life than being a good girl—and that going bad can be so much fun. Her only concern now is how she can ever hope to satisfy the wild side of a boy like Jake. She’s looking forward to trying. And so is Jake.

The Wild Ones was such a terrific novel, and my favorite book of M. Leighton's to date. When I learned Wild Child was about Rusty and Jenna, I wondered whom the remaining books in the series would be about. But then I met Jenna's brother Jake, and read the prologue of Some Like It Wild, and became excited again. Some Like It Wild is a good girl-meets-bad boy love story, told with Leighton's signature passionate style.

The story begins four years in the past, when Jake has a brief but memorable encounter with naïve preacher's daughter, Laney Holt. Fast forward to the present, and Laney is much the same, with the exception of having her heart broken by her soon to be-fiancé and her best friend. Laney is tasked with helping assess Jake's inherited property, but the interactions soon veer to the personal side. Laney wants to spread her wings, not live her life in such a limited capacity. Jake wants to reconnect with the beautiful young woman who tasted like peaches. *smirks*

Jake Theopolis is this book's bad boy, but as it turns out, he's a really good guy. What makes Jake bad? Nothing at all, actually. You know that old(-ish) song from Tim McGraw "Real Good Man" (I may be a real bad boy, but baby I'm a real good man...)? That song kind of fits Jake to a T. Jake is a hard-working man intent on saving his family's orchard from his greedy aunt. He likes to have a good time, and thus far has not found a woman who's made him want more than the physical. It quickly becomes obvious that Jake finds himself unlovable. At first I was thinking, "Oh no, another one of those guys.", and throughout much of the story, that angle wasn't explained. What happened to make Jake so adverse to loving anyone? Thankfully, that question was answered, and I found it to be very sad and very understandable. Poor Jake.

Laney is the good girl, but she's not an annoyingly perfect heroine. She's good, but she's not exactly an angel. I liked seeing her embrace a more carefree style, and enjoy being young and beautiful, with a hot man who's bound to set her body on fire. Having said that, at the beginning, her inability to talk to her parents about what went wrong with her fiancé confused me. And I did not even begin to understand the WTF-ery that was going on with her best friend and that jerk and why she was even giving them the time of day. But apparently Laney's a better person than I could ever be because I would have set those two assfaces world's on fire. In the end, she was a sweet girl and I enjoyed experiencing her journey.

Some Like It Wild was also a very, very steamy story. I know, I know, you're shocked. M. Leighton does have a talent for writing very juicy romance, and I have to say, Jake and Laney took whole-hearted advantage of that. I did feel at times that their love revolved more around the physical than getting to truly know each other. I think that may be because a lot of the emotional connection happened off the page. But yeah, I really, really liked the physical. A lot.

I really liked Some Like It Wild. It was sexy, it was fun and in the end, Laney and Jake's love story got to me. The very end definitely appealed to the romantic in me. We do get a teeny tiny glimpse into the next story's hero; there's also a sneak peek into book three. I gotta say, that one should be verrrry interesting!

** I want to note that in the eARC I read, Some Like It Wild ends at the 66% mark. But do not freak out, the story is definitely complete. The rest contained the Wild Child novella, and the sample of There's Wild, Then There's You.**

Favorite Quotes:

Jake throws back his head and laughs heartily. "Oh, God! That's perfect! The preacher's daughter!"
It seems like he's making fun of me, and I bristle. "And why is that perfect?" I ask sharply.
Jake lowers his head and looks me square in the eye. "Because I've got a thing for forbidden fruit, Laney Holt. Consider yourself warned."

"Come on, Laney. You can do this. Trust me."
"Trust you? You're obviously insane. Why should I trust you?"
It seems an inordinately long amount of time passes before he replies. And, even then, I have to strain to hear his low voice.
Because trusting everyone else has gotten you nowhere. Take a chance for once in your life. Take a chance on me."

If she’s not plugging away at a new story, you’ll find her camping, curling up with the latest flick, or obsessing over Supernatural, True Blood, Lost Girl, and Sons of Anarchy.

Only ever since his ex-fiancee ran off with the gardener, Liam doesn't believe in marriage, or miracles, for that matter… until that is, Isabella Edwards appears at his Edinburgh town home with the answers to his problems.

Local preacher's daughter and former missionary, Isabella Edwards had the perfect life all planned out. Marry her perfect fiancé, live near her family in Holland Springs, open a bookstore, and have a couple of kids. Except… her fiancé ran off to Las Vegas with his widowed ex-stepmother, the bookstore closed before it could open, and now… now, she's pregnant after a one-weekend stand with hot Scot, Liam Stewart.

To Isabella's utter shock, Liam proposes, but a marriage can't last on desire alone. The problem? Isabella and Liam are totally opposites. In fact, the only time they're in agreement is in the bedroom. Desperate to keep her reputation, she accepts.

Now her only hope is that they can put aside their differences and let love bring them together.
